trips around london

Islay and real life Laura

I feel kind of guilty in that since moving to London I no-longer carry my camera around with me everywhere – before, if I was coming for a day trip I’d be taking photos of everything and now it seems to be me and my old phone. The other day, Islay came to stay and she dragged me and my camera out the house and we had a proper lovely day.

Starting at Notting Hill, we wandered down Portobello Road and in between looking at all the market stalls we had the tastiest falafel pitta and also visited The Museum of Advertising and Branding (really interesting!). God knows how we walked so far but we somehow ended up at Paddington near Little Venice. It’s been on my bucket list to visit for ages, a tiny little canal area in the centre of London filled with beautifully painted canal boats, cute pubs and made me feel like I was in the countryside – really really lovely. Heading more central, we both really wanted to visit The William Morris Exhibition at The National Portrait Gallery (it was actually pretty rubbish) but it was nice to visit the gallery as I haven’t been in yeaaaaaaaaaars. Wagamama was then eaten and we somehow found the God’s Own Junkyard Exhibition in Soho which was really cool – it’s on until January 18th if you have time, definitely visit! SUCH A CULTURED DAY!
We only went and flippin met Laura on Saturday too. She’s was in London for a couple of days so we all went up (a very cloudy) Shard, took her for proper chip shop chips and to Tesco to buy Bourbon Biscuits. After all starting our blogs around the same time 3 ish years ago, it was so nice we all finally met.
It was such a nice couple of days and it’s nice to do proper toursity things in between uni and work – makes me feel like I’m on holiday not just living in London.
(Mega long post)
now playing: just discovered MS MR, I’m late as always

I need to do a tour of my home city with my camera. You tend to stop appreciating the little things when you live somewhere for a while..
