HIHI WHERE ON EARTH DO I START?!?!?!!!! I’M CURRENTLY HAVING THE MOST INSANE SUMMER OF MY LIFE AND NOW I’M IN A MANIC RUSH TO DOCUMENT IT ON HERE SO WHEN I’M IN THE DEPTHS OF DOOM (read: third year, followed by living with student debt) I CAN LOOK BACK AND SEE WHEN I FELT ON TOP OF THE BLOODY WORLD AND EVERYTHING WAS AMAZING! I’M TYPING IN CAPS LOCK TO EXPRESS MY PURE ENTHUSIASM. I’M PROBABLY GOING TO SPREAD THESE PHOTOS OUT OVER A COUPLE OF POSTS SO HERE’S SOME FROM WHEN I WENT TRAVELLING….STARTING OFF WITH SPAIN. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! EVERY STUDENT SHOULD GO TRAVELLING, LIVE OFF TAP WATER AND SAVE YOUR MONEY AND BOOK IT EARLY BECAUSE IT’S SOOOOOO WORTH IT!
Like, who thought, I could be at a festival wearing SANDALS?! Benicassim. Amazing. Reading and Leeds I am never going to you again. £80 for 4 days of spending the day sunbathing and the night dancing and I never knew that heaven really did exist on earth. Biffy Clyro, Muse (the greatest band I’ve ever seen live I hate them but I stand my ground), Kendrick, The Chemical Brothers, The Vaccines, Jamie XX, Catfish & the Bottlemen……………..
The most beautiful city! Give me all the tapas! Visiting the beautiful Parc Guell, drinking all the fruit juice from La Boqueria Mercat, seeing all the views from the Tibidabo Mountain, taking a free walking ‘alternative tour’ and being shown the street art and local drug hotspots (this did happen and no I wouldn’t really recommend it…). Barcelona I loves ya.
You were blummin’ HOT! The Royal Palace of Madrid was absolutely incredible (and you couldn’t take any photos which tbh I didn’t mind because I was just taking it all in) and their churros are fab. We walked through the Buen Retiro Park which was lovely, we looked over the boating lake and found the Pinterest famous crystal palace …..which was complete lies and still to this day I am really upset about it really.
Also let me introduce you to the travelling gang, my fave Naomi – we were blogging buds for so long and now we can travel around and stop and take photos of everything without annoying anyone! Followed by Lauren, Cat, Shauneen, Caroline and Dom!
A little Spanish gem. Very historic, very traditional, very good ice cream. Built around a valley we walked over the Puente Nuevo (the new bridge), looked over the views and my favourite part – we took a trip to the Cueva del Gato (why yes, you did translate that right – the cat cave). I dunno what the link is to a cat really but what I do know that it was the most beautiful sight. A giant waterfall flowing out of a giant cave, the bluest water I’ve ever seen and I think one of my favourite days. We arrived early in the morning and it was so quiet. Having the whole pool to ourselves we set up a picnic and had the best day swimming around fresh water. Dreamy.
In between our Spanish village hopping, we spent some time at Frigiliana. AKA a little village that’s basically a real life watercolour painting. Little white town houses, cobbled pathways, hills with amazing views and incredible mojitos. Is life real?
Naomi and I got up at 7am to run up the hill to get tickets for the Alhambra. An arabic palace and fortress, or in other noticeable things – the most amazing tile work ever. Room after room, different patterns from the ceiling to the floor. We finished with a lovely risotto in the evening to celebrate Cat’s 21st before heading to…..ITALY!
