Like everything, I’m probably a million days late with this but deep into my denim FMP realisation at uni and I stumble across Itchy Scratchy Patchy (totally the coolest brand name in da world). Set up by model, Edie Campbell (also she’s just amazing), the brand create insane iron-on patches to jazz up your denim and anything else that has a clear space to patch. Their first collection was titled ‘Best of British’, celebrating typical British characters (erm a feminist, pole dancer, a philosopher) and tabloid culture, followed by patches of sumo’s, mushrooms and nettles. Oh so very cool. To go alongside and if you’re after pre-patched things, there’s everything from customised CDG shirts, jeans, sweatshirts and tres Francais beret’s, hey now get in my wardrobe. Selling at Dover Street Market, I wanna go and see the display but in the meantime their website is very cool.
Hi and welcome to Ellie’s Favourite Things otherwise known as the Miu Miu Appreciation Blog. Half joking, half not. But I’ve gotta show some love for Miu Miu’s beachside SS17 campaign that’s got me California dreamin’. Retro high-cut two-pieces, classic swim hats and pretty postcard prints, it’s love and just what I needed in grey February. Shot by Fashion Photographer Alasdair McLellan and styled by fashion hero/God Katie Grand featuring Elle Fanning, Lara Stone and a couple of new faces, it’s a narrative I would happily join in with and I’m yearning for sand and sunshine. Deckchairs, parasols and the funkiest sandals I’ve ever seen, is it too early to start buying summer clothes for a holiday that isn’t even booked?!
So a couple of months ago I probs made the most outrageous fashion decision a jeans-and-striped-tee-girl could make. Yes amigos, I bought some silver boots. True to say, I have evolved into a magpie in recent years and anything that reflects light I feel should be in my possession. I need it. Now. Take my money. Alas, I am now the proud owner of silver boots and they’ve been sat awkwardly like an ornament on top of their box ever since. I feel so beyond out of my comfort zone that I secretly enjoy it and when I wear them, I am proud to say that for 10 minutes(until I scuffed the toes) I was probably the most sophisticated person in Stratford, East London (note: that probably isn’t hard to achieve).
Thanks to my saviour Pinterest, this is the inspo that’s got my through. Since, I now own some raw hem jeans and according to my hero’s Leandra Medine and Chung, long coats rule and the biggest lesson is that actually anything goes and you can wear whatever the hell you want! Like anything! Yolo my friends yolo and yes I shall wear my starry blouse with my silver boots because I am inspired by the galaxy.
Blog I miss you and I want more time to ramble my life away on here *dramatically drowns in uni briefs* cya
I admire luxury designer houses secretly from afar. Obviously with clothes oh so completely out of my price range/life; their imagery, campaigns and art is something I find more accessible and more enjoyable. This Gucci SS17 campaign sums up everything for me. It’s excessive, over the top and if anything quite hilarious. Shot by Glen Luchford and including top models, obvs, it also features a lion, leopard and a tiger. Insane. Shot in various locations in Rome (including the Trevi Fountain) it combines the every day (a fast food restaurant) with everything out of the ordinary. Incredibly retro, oh so tacky and those bling bling bling sunglasses are giving me life, my favourite campaign that I’ve seen for a while for sure!
now playing: defo I Have a Dream Westlife/2 Become 1 Spice Girls/Feliz Navidad some random spanish Christmas song that reminds me of putting bath bombs through a till, ah sweet memories/Step into Christmas Elton John (personally my favourite Christmas song)/Mistletoe Justin Bieber (another favourite)
Boohoo, you’ve stolen the show. Aren’t these the best Christmas jumpers ever?! Well and truly kitted out for all the festivities. Boohoo wanted me to talk about about my festive family and seeing as I’m currently 150 miles away from home (and not back until late Christmas Eve, boo) it was only right that I included my adopted library family – seeing as it’s basically my home recently! Introducing my faves, Charlotte, David, Caitlin and Liv behind the camera! They bring me snacks, send me memes and put up listening to my ridiculously bad taste in music through my rubbish earphones…..that’s my kinda family! Here are our beautiful family photos, one for the photo album for sure.
Anyway, if you’ve got a Christmassy event coming up or you just have a good stash of Christmas jumpers like moi, Boohoo have got your back covered. PS BTW yes, that is a jumper for two people.
HAPPY CHRISTMAS, I’M EXHAUSTED MY UNI DEADLINES ARE NEARLY DONE THERE IS A LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL……A LONG WEEK OF RETAIL LEFT THEN I CAN GET THE TUB OF QUALITY STREET OUT!! Jokes it’s already been out for a month.
The best girl band going collaborating with the brand I wish I wore every day. Haim x Reformation is now a thing and I LOVE IT. They’ve created a NYE collection and it includes all the velvet, all the v-necks and all the leather. 70’s inspired, beautiful colours kinda grunge kinda boho. I’ve been desperate to go to the Reformation pop-up in Seven Dials before it closes mid-December, or even better maybe I should just pack my bags and move to LA………………
WELL NOW I’VE HANDED MY DISSERTATION IN WHAT’S HOLDING ME BACK? Jokes yh my diss is fina-bloody-ly handed in (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) but I have another deadline next Friday. I can kind of see the light, not really though. Hope everyone’s end of terms isn’t terrible!
